Marco Ilao
Soccer Training Specialist
A professional committed to bringing the joy of sport and competition through soccer. Having traveled to many different places as a player and coach I hold a unique approach to the game. As a player my experience spans from winning an OFSAA championship, playing against professional teams in Trinidad and Tobago, getting recruited to Preparatory School in Massachusetts and eventually a Division 1 scholarship to Bowling Green State University. Since my playing days ended in 2013, I’ve been coaching through various avenues. My first coaching job started in Ohio as a Head Coach of the U9 Girls, the next year I worked as an assistant technical director at the club before moving back to Canada. Since being in Canada I’ve worked as a Head Coach at the Rep. level in Mississauga. In addition, I’ve created a private program working with age groups from U3 to U16. I’ve worked with kids with many different objectives as my program has helped kids play competitively in Ontario to playing overseas in England. The primary goal will always be teaching youth the correct way to play, proper regulations within the game and during training. Through those exercises all the important interpersonal skills shine through as they accomplish tasks throughout games and training. The importance of building self-confidence and problem-solving abilities can be achieved through many avenues, but it is my personal belief it is best achieved through team sport.
